Now and Then 2 - Sandy Bay Birds

Along the Abel Tasman National Park track coastal at Sandy Bay, Marahau. The shallows of the bay create warm waters producing a rich Eco system of life within the waters which in turn entices animals and people to its shores for nourishment and play.

Now and Then 3 - The Cool Stores

The Coolstores at Mapua wharf. These buildings are now gift shops but originated as coolstores to house apples from the region’s many orchards. Here they awaited pick up by boats at the wharf for distribution

Now and Then 4 - Estuary

The Estuary, Mapua causeway at low tide with Rabbit Island and the Richmond Ranges. A fast moving tidal currant rips through each day as the estuary empties and fills its way through a maze of deep channels and shallow banks.

Now and Then 5 - Grossi Point Paddle

Grossi Point, Mapua at low tide shown with Paddle boarders at high tide and Australian Eucalyptus tree. It is the abundance of natural resources that has given Mapua it’s name and continues to attract locals and visitors alike.

Now and Then 6 - Two Ships Went

Wainui Inlet off Abel Tasman Drive, Golden Bay. Historic site of the first meeting of Abel Tasman and local Maori in Golden Bay, December 1642 where the story takes place of two Dutch ships that stopped briefly in the bay.

Now and Then 7 - Kayaks In the Sky

Wharariki Beach Golden Bay, the Northern most point of the South Island is a remote recreational beach with significant sand dunes surrounded by the Kahurangi National Park.
